![]() The Royal Privateers, partners and the muscle of the Merchant Alliance (both employees of some Royal/World Government or whatever). would look like stuff from ancient civilizations, possibly have some glowy magical armor. Thus their outpost is guarded by golden golems of sorts. Amidst their treasures would be some crazy ancient relics, including one that creates guardian entities out of gold, and in general it turns out that gold is a resource they use for some strange type of magic or whatnot. Gold decorations and crazy treasures galore would be strewn about their area, basically being the paradise for explorers and those who love the less-aggressive pirate life. Their haven would be heavy on the pirate romantic theme, with a lot of partying and being holly jolly. The Jolly Rogers, the employers of the Gold Hoarders. would be skeletal in nature, made out of bones and so on. ![]() ![]() Thus the outpost guards would be skeletons and the like. Their haven would be heavily leaned towards the voodoo-esque mysticism and it turns out that the skulls you collect have all been going towards building up their own undead army that's fully under their control. Some faction themes could be like.Ĭult of Bones ( coughreference cough ), the employers of the Order of Souls. The havens could be raided/attacked by other players under opposing factions but would be well fortified with NPCs and such to leap to the defense. Maybe they could add in some actual factions of sorts that differ from Trade Companies and have different pirate havens that are in different spots of the world. This would add to some realism in the game - even the ability to choose to sail for a navy would be awesome too. Assassin's Creed Black Flag was awesome at this - you had British and Spanish navies sailing the seas hunting you to bring you to justice. I also would like to see NPC navies that go around and hunt us. There is a post/subject on the forum where they talk about what people would like Rare to add to the game - I explained that I would like to see a Bounty/Justice system which would keep people from just griefing players and still provide a risk reward to the attacker as well as those that would hunt said attackers for rewards. And while I know it’s a challenge to come up with 50 completely different puzzle ideas, I’d wager one or two of these stages were designed around getting attention on social media rather than creating a unique and interesting challenge.Said in Confirmed former Sea of Thieves developer says the game is repetitive and I agree - with what you are saying surrounding player interaction. Zombies tower-defense level and one themed around The Legend of Zelda, were probably good ideas on paper but are long and dull in execution. Unfortunately, so do those stages that really miss the mark. When these levels and themes hit just right, they stand out. There’s even a separate mini-game modeled after Doom with first-person shooter controls and all. Several stages here reference pop culture to great effect, such as a level inspired by Silent Hill and another that presents a series of challenges based on the American Office. One level will propose you soak a bunch of children until they run scared across the school, while the next will challenge you to free a little green alien trapped in a quiet mountain town. And nobody is spared from this cloud’s wrath. Across 50 stages, players will use the cloud’s four abilities - rain, tornado, snow, and lightning - to wreak havoc on the people below. I have to hand it to the developer for getting just about the most out of the premise as it could. ![]()
